Open Africa Safaris is eager to engage with institutions and group coordinators to explore Tanzania Safari options. This itinerary is for history buffs (we know you are out there) who want to explore some of the historical regions of Tanzania, both in terms of anthropology and historical sites. We try to give you insight into Tanzania and East Africa in general, it’s past, and the reasons why it is this way currently. You will explore Tanzania's past, and see its effects on the present, and perhaps even in the future.

From the birthplace of mankind, here we explore the history of Tanzania and East Africa.

Day 1: From Kilimanjaro Airport to Arusha town
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport. After meet and greet at the airport, your professional driver guide will transfer you to Mvuli Hotel in Arusha where you will spend the night.

Meal plan: Dinner and breakfast will be provided at the Lodge.

Day 2: Arusha – Maasai Village
Visit a traditional village in Monduli Juu and learn about the culture and life of most Tanzanians. Emairete is a village within the small crater in Monduli district and close to Monduli Mountain. Clients who wish to visit a non-touristy village will enjoy this 6 hour excursion to the nearby village of Emairete.

You will meet with the Chairman (Mayor) of the village or a representative from the Village Council, and learn how a village of this size is managed along with the day-to-day issues. Site visits will include fetching water from the water holes with Maasai women; this activity will be specifically for women while men will join the Maasai warriors on the field grazing the cattle. Massai women adorn themselves in brightly colored handmade beaded colors, and the men, in their distinctive cloth, will often showcase their amazing jumping prowess for visitors. Dinner and overnight stay arranged at Monduli Special Camp.

Day 3: Monduli Juu- Lake Manyara National Park

Day 3: Monduli Juu- Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, you will visit primary school, hospital, courthouse and the district offices in Monduli town. Thereafter, we will travel by road to Lake Manyara for a traditional hot lunch, prepared by local women of Mto-wa -mbu. This is a small village located few miles away from Lake Manyara National Park. After lunch, you will join the evening game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. Overnight stay will be at Lake Manyara Twiga Special Camp.

Day 4: Lake Manyara National Park to Serengeti National Park via Olduvai Gorge
After breakfast, we travel by road from Lake Manyara Twiga special camp to Serengeti National Park via Olduvai Gorge.You will visit the Gorge and the Museum, and learn about archaeology, history and ancient hominid ancestors at Olduvai Gorge. Olduvai Gorge is a world famous archaeological site and anyone with an interest in mankind’s ancestors will be fascinated by the history of this extraordinary place.The Gorge and the surrounding regions are also extremely interesting from a wildlife perspective, as the habitat supports several plants and animals. Our Olduvai Gorge tour includes a visit to the museum and visitor’s center as well as a lecture by a Department of Antiquities guide. The museum has several displays including a cast of the infamous Laetoli footprints, along with other fossil bones and stone tools. Overnight stay arranged at Seronera Special Camp.

Day 5: Game drive in Serengeti National Park
Today you will enjoy a full day game drive in Serengeti National Park with choice of either a hot lunch at the camp or a picnic lunch. You will also get an opportunity to visit Maasai historical sites within the park, like Maasai musical rocks and Maasai painting rocks. Dinner will be served at Seronera Special Camp.

Day 6: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater Tour
After breakfast, we travel to Ngorongoro Crater for a 6-hour game drive followed by Nature walk to Ngorongoro height land. We will then proceed to our special camp for dinner and overnight stay at Ngorongoro Special Camp.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha Town
Today you will have a lazy breakfast, after which you will be transfer to Arusha town. Dinner and overnight will be at Ahadi Lodge.

NB: Since this itinerary is more special for history buffs, we would like to give you the choice of optional activities like Zanzibar Slave Market tour, Bagamoyo town visit, Kilwa Ireland visit and Pangani town visit to combine with your Mother Land Historical site tour. Any additional tour can be arranged by Open Africa Safaris.
